For testers

Help get KICKER store-ready.

KICKER runs on iPad, iPhone and Android β€” in two editions, solo and online. That is a lot of combinations, and there is no way I can play through all of them myself. That is where you come in: the more devices, playing styles and pairs of eyes look at it, the sooner this version is ready for the App Store and the Play Store.

How to get started

  1. 1

    Install the beta

Try TestFlight beta for iPhone and iPad, or the Get Android APK (v0.17.0) for Android phones and tablets.
  2. 2

    Play β€” however you like

Play a season, browse the transfer market, start an online league, tap everything that looks tappable. It is exactly the routes I did not have in mind while building that turn up the bugs.
  3. 3

    Report whatever you notice

Through the feedback form. Bug reports need an e-mail address β€” only so I can ask follow-up questions; it is visible to me alone. A screenshot helps enormously, as do your device and the version number (in the game under β€œMore β†’ About”).

What I look at most

Crashes and dead ends

Screens with no way back, or that simply stay black.

Wrong numbers

Tables, finances, statistics, scorers β€” does it all add up?

Layout on your device

Clipped text, overlapping elements, type that is too small.

Clarity

Where were you unsure what the game wanted from you?

Faithfulness to the original

You know the Atari ST original? Tell me where this one feels different.

Online leagues

Matchdays, the line-up phase, notifications, what other managers see.

Cheat codes for testers

Some parts of the game are weeks of play away β€” a cup final, the relegation play-off, the end of the season. So that you do not have to play half a season just to see one screen, KICKER has a hidden cheat mode. It was in the 1990 original too: back then you unlocked it with a right-click in the top left corner.

How to unlock it:

  1. In the game go to β€œMore” β†’ β€œAbout” (on tablets: β€œMisc” β†’ β€œAbout”).
  2. There, tap the version number three times in quick succession.
  3. An input field for the code appears β€” plus a tappable list, so there is nothing to memorise.

The codes only work in solo play. They are blocked in online leagues β€” a jump there would wreck the game state of everyone else in your league.

Jumps β€” take you straight to the interesting parts

  • SAISONENDE

Fast-forwards to just before the end of the season β€” one match to go, then the season review. With a number (e.g. SAISONENDE 4) more matches stay open.

Good for testing: Season review, season highlights, final tables, top scorers, team of the year, promotion and relegation. Every matchday is really simulated, so the tables of all leagues are realistic.

  • DFB1 … DFB6

Jump to that cup round β€” DFB1 = first round, DFB6 = the final.

Good for testing: Cup nights, away legs, the winner and knock-out screens.

  • ELFER

Straight into a cup final that goes to a penalty shootout.

Good for testing: The penalty shootout β€” animation, controls, outcome, sound.

  • UEFA1 … UEFA5, UEFAFINALE

Jump to that round of the international competition.

Good for testing: International opponents, first and second legs, the final.

  • RELEGATION

    Jump to the relegation play-off.

Good for testing: The relegation matches and what happens to your club afterwards.

  • MEISTER

    Jump to the promotion decider.

Good for testing: Promotion matches, the championship ceremony, celebration screens.

  • PLATZ <Platz> [Spieltag] [Liga]

Puts your club at a given table position. Examples: PLATZ 1 = top of the table, PLATZ 18 5 = bottom after matchday 5, PLATZ 5 20 4 = 5th in the fourth division after matchday 20.

Good for testing: Promotion, relegation, winning the title β€” without playing a whole season for it.

Boosts β€” make the way there more comfortable

  • GELD

10 million into the club account.

Good for testing: Transfer market, expensive signings, stadium expansion, sponsor deals β€” anything money-related.

  • ENERGIE

All players back to full energy.

Good for testing: Play several matchdays in a row without the squad wearing down.

  • FORM

    All players in top form.

Good for testing: How does form affect a match? A good counter-test to a slump.

  • SKILL

    All skills maxed out.

Good for testing: Extremes: goal fests, how double-digit wins are displayed, statistics.

  • VERTRAG

All contracts set to 75 weeks.

Good for testing: No expiring contracts β€” handy when you want to test something else in peace.

  • FIT

    Everyone healthy, all suspensions lifted.

Good for testing: Line up with a full squad β€” and the counter-test to suspended players.

  • ALLES

All of the boosts above at once.

Good for testing: The quick start when you just want to blast through a season.

And then?

If anything strikes you along the way β€” however small β€” send it to the feedback form. Every report reaches me and gets an answer. Thank you for helping out.
